Today I had a student who wanted more books by an author she had read last year…but the problem was, she only remembered the author’s first name: Sharon. I asked her if she remembered the name of the book she read last year. No luck, but she did remember that there were two books: a dog poetry book and a cat poetry book. Do you know the author?
That’s right, it’s Sharon Creech! We found her books and checked them out today!
My favorite request today was “Where are the ‘Gator Boys’ chapter books?” From what I could gather this is a show on Animal Planet; now I feel out of date on my TV shows. Needless to say, no “Gator Boys” chapter books. I showed him some nonfiction books about alligators, such as this one:
But, remember he wanted a chapter book. So, we tried this one:
He read it at a table for a little while, but eventually decided against it. Then he asked me about Platypus Police Squad on a display.
And that is what he checked out! Not “Gator Boys” but a great book nonetheless. I’ll definitely have to touch base and see if he likes it…and I need to brush up on my kid pop culture!
Today many of my students were searching for Christopher Healy’s Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom. All of our copies have been checked out! I guess students are getting ready for our first round of Chat and Chew, our lunch time book club for 4th and 5th graders.
My favorite request from today was for a “Shichon” book. At first, I wondered what the kiddo was saying, but being near the dog section gave me my clue. We don’t have any Shichon books; we have Bichon Frises and Shih Tzus, just not together. We do, however, have Puggles. Looks like I need to update our designer dogs again.
