Chat and Chew

Wow, we had a record number of students for Chat and Chew: 40 4th graders and 28 5th graders joined our lunch time book clubs!  We meet each Monday during 4th and 5th grade lunches; we are kicking off the year with The Hero’s Guide to Saving Your Kingdom.  I’m can’t wait to spend time reading and discussing this book with these kids as we all get to know one another.  In November, we will Skype with author Christopher Healy as a final connecting activity.  These kids are going to love this book; I am so excited that we can provide these great learning opportunities in the library, and I’m proud of our students for taking advantage of it.

Readers’ Interest Survey

Readers Interest Form

My 5th grade students are visiting the library today, and as we go over procedures and check out books for the first time, I am also asking my students to fill out a Readers’ Interest Survey in Google Forms.  I am excited to look at this student input in such an easily usable format.  Next week, I’ll survey my 3rd and 4th grade students, and may try to create a modified form for my younger grades as well.  I am so excited to be able to use these results in providing recommendations to students and in developing our library collection.
